Pets add a collection and economy layer to Raft 101 Survival on Roblox. After The Experimental Games expanded mid-season content, players can find tameable creatures near islands and ghost ship routes, then train them with items such as a flute so the animal yields more meat than a wild kill. Pets also give psychological pacing — a living companion on a tiny raft makes multi-hour sessions feel less empty when solo.

When to start taming

Do not chase pets on Day 1. Finish the Getting Started fireplace gate, craft a fishing rod, and place a Lookout Mast first. Ideal window:

• Event islands during Admin Abuse weekends (spawn tables spike)

Approach slowly. Aggro packs can shred raft edges if you kite them onto unfinished tiles. Bring a basic weapon even if you plan to tame.

Flute training loop

Creator videos show a flute-style trainer item used after you secure the creature:

1. Craft or loot the trainer item (name may read Flute / Pet Flute after patches)
2. Interact with the target animal while it is calm or penned near the raft
3. Complete the training channel without taking lethal damage
4. Confirm the pet UI shows a trained state — meat yield should increase on harvest

If training fails mid-channel, heal, clear nearby hostiles, and retry. Do not train during octopus approach windows — Lookout Mast alerts come first.

Meat, cooking, and storage

Trained pets feed your cooking station. Pair pet meat with:

• Cooking pot / fireplace recipes unlocked mid-run
• Storage chests so raw meat does not despawn during storms
• One crewmate on cook duty in co-op

Avoid overharvesting a single pet if the game treats them as limited companions — check whether the pet persists after harvest or must be retamed.
